Who is Emmly Jane?

First of all, WELCOME!  I am very glad that you stopped by for a visit.  Please make sure to let me know you were here by posting a quick comment or link to your page.  You can also send me a private e-mail at ej@emmlyjane.com.  I am also on Twitter @emmlyjane.  I want to be sure to hear all about you and your interests too!

Who am I?  Where to start?  I love books.  Yes, I hear you grumble because I, too, have read author bios since the beginning of time making the same claim.  But really, I love them.  I have enjoyed reading ever since I can remember.

To help explain my passion I challenge you to take a survey of teenage drivers.  Ask them how many steer with one hand simply because their other hand is preoccupied with a finger holding the exact spot they left off in their latest book; all while praying for a red traffic light so she can get in an additional paragraph or two to read.

Yep, that was me.  You think teenagers driving with one hand is scary?  Did I mention that I also drove a stick shift?  Obviously, like all teenagers, I thought I was invincible!   My legal disclaimer: If you tell my newly driving 16 year old this fact about her mother, I will deny it until the bitter end and then personally hunt you down.

So I love books.  So what, right?  What makes me any different from all the other writers out there?  Here it is:  I believe that true love and happy endings occur to real people everyday.  Isn’t that great?  It doesn’t have to be a fairy tale!  You just have to wait for His timing.  My life is the perfect example.

I am a happy (ecstatic) young (I wish) wife and mother of 3 incredible (exceptional) children.  My husband is the ideal knight in shining armor who whisked me, as a single mother, and my son up onto his horse and road us straight into the sunset (Texas).

Reality check?  Honestly, there was no horse but I have already admitted that I am a writer so clearly I make stuff up as I go.

The real story…

On a cold winter’s night in December a few…cough, cough… years ago when my son was small and trying to cover from pneumonia, we were stuck in a small apartment alone where we watched Disney’s 101 Dalmatians literally 24 hours a day for about 8 days straight.   We had just recently moved into our new little home and owned no Christmas decorations yet and, with him being so ill, we couldn’t go out to get any.  My knight…  that’s right ladies, MY knight… came whisking in on that cold evening with a freshly cut Christmas tree and all the trimmings.  He spent a few hours with us while he decorated our living room to help brighten our spirits.  Over the years, I became a bride; we added two beautiful little girls to our family; and yes, we did move to Texas.  Of course, our Christmas decorations have changed as well, with one exception.  A little Santa from our original Christmas together has remained with us through thick and thin.  Every year he is placed by my husband on the top front of our tree, right underneath our lovely angel.

That is me, Emmly Jane.  It is very nice to meet you.  Now remember I want to hear about you too.

Thanks for the visit!

Non-regular-writers are always amazed at the things I can come with. If only they knew we all just make it up as we go along hehe (the real writers secret)

  4. What a delightful intro! I believe in happy endings too, my life is also one, and strangely enough, I have also ended up in Texas with my very own knight in shining armor, far from where I was raised! Il love your devotion to books, both my husband and I have become Kindle addicted with the easy of pulling an iPhone from our pockets to continue the latest book at any opportunity. And to think that we once had to make a trip to the library to obtain a new book to read! 🙂

Your driving history scares me. I will be sure not to share that with my kids either. 🙂
I love reading about happily married couples. Sounds like your husband really is a knight.

  6. Hi! I have been on your blog a lot of the morning! Anyways I could hear the extended version of your story? I would love to! And… is your up-an-coming book going to be on Kindle? 🙂
    God bless!
